Details

• Assignment 1
  The aim of this assignment is to encode reasoning problems stated in English into classical logic. Prover9 should used to edit and test the representations. The required submission consists of Prover9 input files that are to be submitted to Gradescope.
  • The coursework specification will be officially released on Friday. Here is a link which will take you to a pilot version of the assignment specification, with full details of the first part:

    Note: Each student will assigned a personal variant of the problem. The variants are essentially the same, except that there are different permutations of vocabulary, sentence order and phrasing.

  • More information on using Prover9 can be found on my Prover9 exercises information web page.

  NOTE: The Gradescope submission link for Assignment 1 will not be available until a couple of days before the submission deadline.

• Assignment 2
  

  This should be done in groups of 3. Go to Minerva to join a group. If you want to form a group with students you know, all those wanting to be together should join and empty group in quick succession, since any other student can join a partially full group. You will also need to submit to Gradescope in the same groups. To do this, only one group member must submit then, after submitting they will have the option to add other students (via a button near bottom right of the window that shows the submission).

  • Part A. Using Prolog to solve a planning puzzle. Group work. Details are on Gradescope (assignemnt named "Assignment 2A -- Prolog Coding").

  • Part B. A short essay examining a specific case of the Winograd Schema Challenge. Details can be found in this Colab notebook . Or in this PDF file.
    (I provide the .ipynb notebook file so you can easily run the schema selection Python code directly in the notebook. You can also copy and run the code from the PDF but you may need to fix the indentation after copy and pasting.)

• Online Exam
  The test will cover all aspects of the module and will focus on the use of KRR representations to encode specific reasoning problems. This will be scheduled as a limited duration that must be taken within a longer time window. Full details will be given nearer the time. It is expected that the test should take 2-3 hours to complete, though you will probabaly be allowed a longer period in case of any issues arising.

  Solutions are also provided. However it is strongly suggested that you attempt the questions before looking at the solutions.
